My first great influence was Carl Palmer, drummer of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I was ten years old. To leave of that day I decided to learn drums. I started to learn all the songs of ELP, mainly the drums solos. In this same time I also listened a lot to Bill Bruford of Yes, John Bonham of Led Zeppelin and Keith Moon of The Who.
Reading on my idols, I discovered the idols of my idols: Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa and Elvin Jones.
And opening my head for the Jazz, I discovered Tony Williams and Jack De Johnette.
There Fusion came, that was fundamental in my formation. When I listened to Billy Cobham for the first time in Mahavishnu Orchestra, I didn't believe in what I was hearing. For me Billy revolutionized the way to play drums.
Others that influenced me a lot: Alphonse Mouzon, Narada Michael Walden, Lenny White, Don Alias, Steve Gadd, Harvey Mason, Peter Erskine, Terry Bozzio.
And my contemporary: Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Omar Hakim, Vinnie Colaiuta and Simon Phillips.
The brazilian drummers that more influenced me were: Airto Moreira, Paulinho Braga, Ivan Conti "Mamão" and the Picolé (of TV Globo).
